Jet Infosystems deploys a data security system for INFINITUM
Moscow. The INFINITUM Specialized Depository and Jet Infosystems have completed the deployment of a data security management system (DSMS), which has been certified for compliance with the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 international standard. This project has streamlined data security processes and their management. It has also reduced data security risks that could have an impact of INFINITUM’s assets. The outcome of the project has been approved and certified by the British Standards Institute (BSI), an independent certification agency.
“Our business makes us directly responsible to clients for the integrity of the confidential information we process. In accordance with our strategic objectives we decided to deploy a comprehensive data security management system and to have it certified for compliance with ISO/IEC 27001:2005 to demonstrate that we are an efficient agency that guarantees high-quality secure management of information assets to benefit our clients and partners,” says Aleksandr Borodin, INFINITUM’s IT and technological development director.
The contract was awarded to Jet Infosystems, a company that has extensive experience in developing DSMS for various businesses, including insurance companies and financial institutions. The project team consisted of Jet Infosystems’ engineers, INFINITUM’s senior managers and staff from INFINITUM’s information technology department and data security service.
“Jet Infosystems was selected for the project after a long and meticulous investigation into the data security services market,” says Vasiliy Stepanenko, DS manager at INFINITUM. “The company’s excellent track record, the professionalism of its staff, its results-oriented approach, and its philosophy of active cooperation with the client were the main factors behind our decision. There is no doubt now that we made the right choice.”
Jet Infosystems experts began by reviewing the client’s DS systems and their compliance with ISO/IEC 27001:2005 (GAP analysis). They also determined the scope of the future DSMS, which encompassed all of the organization’s basic business processes, particularly record-keeping for mutual funds, depository activities, supervision of investment, record-keeping for clients’ assets, and so on. The review resulted in a report and an action plan to achieve compliance with the standard.
At the next step Jet Infosystems took an inventory of INFINITUM’s assets and evaluated their importance. DS risks were also analyzed and assessed. INFINITUM staff provided valuable assistance in the development and deployment of basic DS management processes (including internal audits, remedial and preventive action, etc.) and DS provision (backups, virus protection and so on). Jet Infosystems’ staff provided training in new DS standards and launched all the DSMS processes.
The comprehensive DSMS was integrated with the ISO 9001:2008-compliant quality management system (QMS) that was being developed by INFINITUM.
“The integration of DSMS and QMS was a fundamental step aimed at increasing the overall efficiency of both systems,” notes Aleksandr Borodin.
“Designed in accordance with the best corporate management practices in the world, our DSMS seamlessly accommodates INFINITUM’s quality management processes to further improve the maturity of the company and guarantee excellent as well as secure services,” comments Anna Kostina, DSMS manager at Jet Infosystems.
At the final stage of the project the DSMS was certified by BSI.
