Jet Infosystems automates access rights management for the TNK-BP Group
Moscow — Jet Infosystems has deployed an Identity Management System (IdM) for TNK-BP. The project is based on the Oracle Waveset platform (previously Sun Java System Identity Manager).
Identity management is a critical component of information security and efficient operation of IT systems. IdM products are integrated with such systems for automatic centralized control of user accounts and access rights.
Over the past five years the business procedures at TNK-BP, a leading Russian oil company, and its affiliates have been enhanced using over two hundred information systems of varying sophistication. “User access management in this highly heterogeneous environment becomes crucial to information security,” notes Aleksandr Podolsky, Vice-President, TNK-BP. “It was for this reason that we decided to deploy an IdM system.”
The IdM deployment contract was awarded to Jet Infosystems, whose experts then customized the standard version of the product to fit TNK-BP’s business needs as much as possible. The project subsystems included account life cycle management, access rights management, resource management and a model for granting access privileges depending on the user’s position and department.
The standard version of the product can generate logs of account changes, access right changes and the running of business processes. This feature was supplemented with an expanded audit system.
“As it turns out, business departments at TNK-BP were just as interested in IdM projects as information technology officers,” says Igor Lyapunov, director, Information Security Center at Jet Infosystems. “This large-scale data security project has given us a unique experience using a major software development component.”
